Fourth Time's a Charm: The new Luxgen SUV Crossover

This isn't the first time you've heard about this car. Really. Some months ago, Autoblog posted pictures of a "mystery crossover" which left even the hardcore car fans in perplexity, as it didn't really seem to reassemble any vehicle of any brand... but as a Taiwanese, I can simply point out that it is most probably the next production model of Luxgen, the Taiwan-based auto maker. This fourth model, then, is Luxgen's latest effort to continue rising up in the world auto industry.

About three years ago, the newly formed car maker announced their first take at the domestic market in Taiwan, the Luxgen7 MPV. Since then, they've launched a new model each year, the 7 SUV in 2010, the 7 MPV CEO in 2011, and the 5 Sedan earlier this year, taking various models to markets abroad along the way, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, and The Dominican Republic. For the year of 2013, Luxgen plans on releasing a CUV, about targeting cars such as the iX 35 and the FX35.

Earlier this year, Autoblog spotted the heavily camouflaged CUV driving around in the suburbs of Michigan. Just two months ago, some Taiwanese reporters caught this very same car at a press conference for the Luxgen 5 Sedan launch (Smart of Luxgen to bring along a secret model, huh?). At around the same time, press in China were surprised with an announcement of a new SUV model planned for a 2013 debut at Shanghai, during a secret meeting about the Luxgen 5 Sedan Hatchback (not so secret, I guess). You can take a look at the gallery below and see the pictures for yourself. Whatever the outcomes, at least we're all prepared for Shanghai 2013.
