Anime: Recommended Viewing of 2011
Here's a list of the must sees of 2011:
Hidan no Aria
Tokyo Butei High School is a special school where armed detectives, also known as Butei, are trained and educated. Tooyama Kinji is a sophomore student, who can go into Hysteria Mode when "stimulated" — affecting his mental state (ultra-fast reflexes, protection complex) and manner of speech. He tries to hide this genetically inherited ability from others in order to live a peaceful life. But when he becomes the victim of a bombing incident, by a Butei Killer copycat, his quiet days are over with the fateful encounter with Kanzaki H. Aria — the Butei High "Assault" department elite.
Kore wa Zombie Desuka?
The story centres around a passive high school boy named Aikawa Ayumu, who gets killed during a spate of mysterious serial killings. However, Ayumu is resurrected as a zombie by the necromancer girl Eu, whom he had befriended just before dying. When Ayumu reawakens he is tossed into a world with masou shoujo (magically equipped girls) and vampire ninjas. And of all things, he is assigned the duties of such a masou shoujo by the magical warrior girl Haruna.
Steins;Gate
The story of Steins;Gate takes place in Akihabara and is about a group of friends who have managed to customize their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.
Nichijou
While the title suggests a story of simple, everyday school life, the contents are more the opposite. The setting is a strange school where you may see the principal wrestle a deer or a robot's arm hide a rollcake. However there are still normal stories, like making a card castle or taking a test you didn't study for. The art style is cute but mixes with extreme expressions and action sequences for surprising comedy bits.
Moshidora
When 2nd-year high-school student Kawashima Minami's close friend, Miyata Yuuki, is admitted into the hospital, Minami declares that she will take over Yuuki's role as manager of the baseball club. However, Minami has absolutely no idea of what it means to be a manager of a baseball club, so she goes to the bookstore to get some source material... And picks up one of Peter Drucker's books!
Kamisama no Memo-chou
The story centers around a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) detective girl named Alice and her assistant, a high school freshman boy namedFujishima Narumi.

The rest of his family is equally shocked and embarrassed by this surprise development, and not one of them wants anything to do with the silent little girl, Rin. In a fit of angry spontaneity, Daikichi decides to take her in himself! But will living with this overgrown teenager of man help Rin come out of her shell? And hang on, won't this turn of events spell doom for Daikichi's love life?!
Hana-Saku Iroha
The story revolves around 16 year-old Matsumae Ohana, a normal girl who hopes and dreams of the future like most girls her age. One day reality catches up to her when she is left in the care of her estranged grandmother, following her mother's elopement with her boyfriend. After travelling to the countryside Ohana is forced to adapt to the new environment and begins working at a her grandmother's Taisho period styled hot spring inn, Kissuisou. Initially at odds with her grandmother, co-workers and customers she decides to use her circumstances as an opportunity to change herself for the better and to make amends with her deteriorating relationship with the Kissuisou staff for a more prominent future.
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
The story revolves around a high school boy named Niwa Makoto. He lives with his aunt's family since his parents are away on business. It is there that he meets his mysterious same-aged cousin Touwa Erio — who happens to tie a futon mattress around her upper body and is a self-proclaimed alien. Her staple food is pizza.
Erio had been missing for half a year and was found floating in the sea. She does not remember anything about what happened during that period of time, but begins to think that it was the act of an alien and starts to wander the neighbourhood wrapped in a futon.
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
