Modern Warfare 3 Breaks Pre-order, Day 1 Shipment Records

 

  Addressing investors and analysts following the publisher's impressive third quarter financial results last night, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said "the record number of pre-orders from Modern Warfare 3 drove the largest day one shipments in our history and in the industry's history".

"Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 outpaced pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops by a wide margin, setting a new industry record in making it the most pre-ordered game of all time," he added, according to a Seeking Alpha transcript.

Hirshberg said more than 1.5 million people attended 13,000 midnight store openings globally, and that Activision "cannot be more pleased with the global game reviews".
